In July 2019, the Harless CREATE Satellite team worked with 30 educators from prek, elementary, middle and high school school to learn about drones. This professional learning opportunity was funded through the Nearby Nature project provided by the Benedum Foundation and in partnership with the CREATE Lab at Carnegie Mellon University and West Liberty University.
The Harless Create Satellite partnered with Mountwest Community College and educators from Huntington High School to host this professional training opportunity for teachers. As part of the Nearby Nature grant, educators who participated received hands-on training and drone equipment to use with their students. Teachers collaborated across content areas and grade levels to plan out instructional units that would incorporate drones for a high flying and high engaging experience for students.
